The 1.9L engines are in-line, with one overhead camshaft (OHC). The camshaft, located in the cylinder head, is driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft. Fuel injection is performed by pump-injectors, which combine a high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP), a control valve and an injector. The pump-injectors are driven by the camshaft through additional cams. The engine is equipped with a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG supercharger).
