6. When loosening and tightening the shock absorber support mounting nuts, hold the rod from turning. AUDI service stations use special tool 3017A for this.

Installation
1. Install the support on the shock absorber and secure it with a new self-locking nut to torque 25Nm.
2. Tighten the bolts (2) to torque 36Nm. Observe the position of the lower mount.
3. First tighten the shock absorber lower mounting nut (1) to torque 30Nm.

4. Reinstall the spring, refer to the relevant Section.
5. Observing the direction of rotation of the wheel, secure the rear wheel, lower the car onto the wheels and only then tighten the wheel mounting bolts to the torque 120Nm.
The tightening of the lower shock absorber mounting nut must be done as follows:
1. Lower the vehicle onto its wheels.
2. Loosen the lower shock absorber mount.
3. Press the car suspension several times.
4. Tighten the new nut (1) to torque 150 Nm and then turn it at an angle of 90°.
