Shock absorber
- 1 - Nut, 25 Nm, self-locking, be sure to replace
- 2 - shock absorber support
- 3 - Buffer stroke compression
- 4 - Protective cover
- 5 - Shock absorber, pay attention to the difference in the performance of the chassis
Withdrawal
Warning: A special tool is required to remove the shock absorber. HUNDRED AUDI use for this purpose a compression tool VAG1752/1, an adapter VAG 1752/9 and a spring holder VAG 1752/16.
1. Mark the direction of rotation of the wheel with an arrow on the tire. Loosen the wheel bolts. Raise and support the rear of the vehicle and remove the wheel.
2. Remove the spring, refer to Section Removal and installation of a helical spring.
3. Loosen the nut (1) and remove the bolt (the cover is not shown in the accompanying illustration).
4. Remove the bolt (2).
Warning: The wheel cover is not removable.
5. Remove shock absorber.
6. When loosening and tightening the shock absorber mounting nuts, keep the rod from turning. HUNDRED AUDI use a special tool 3017A for this.
Installation
1. Install the support on the shock absorber and secure it with a new self-locking nut with torque 25Nm.
2. Tighten the bolts (2) moment 36Nm. Check the position of the bottom mount.
3. Tighten the shock absorber lower mounting nut first (1) moment 30nm.
4. Reinstall the spring, refer to the appropriate Section.
5. Observing the direction of rotation of the wheel, secure the rear wheel, lower the car onto the wheels and only then tighten the wheel bolts to the torque 120Nm.
Tighten the shock absorber bottom mounting nut as follows:
1. Lower the vehicle onto its wheels.
2. Loosen the lower shock absorber mount.
3. Push the car's suspension several times.
4. Tighten the new nut (1) moment 150 Nm and then turn 90°.
