Warning: A special tool is required to remove the coil spring. AUDI service stations use the VAG 1752/1 compression tool, the VAG 1752/9 adapter and the VAG 1752/16 spring holder for this purpose.
1. Mark the direction of rotation of the wheel with an arrow on the tire. Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Raise and place the rear of the car on stands and remove the wheel.

2. Install the spring compressor with adapter and spring holder onto the spring. If necessary, first insert the spring holder into the coils and then connect it to the compressor. Be careful not to damage the trapezoid lever.
Warning: Four turns must be compressed. If this is not possible, compress three turns and then turn the spring so that four turns can be compressed. Make sure that the spring is correctly positioned in the holder. Risk of accident!
3. Squeeze the tool until it stops and remove the spring.
Installation
1. When installing a new spring, make sure that the conical end of the spring faces downwards. Colored marks (arrow B in the accompanying illustration) should point downwards.

2. Insert the spring support journal (1) into the hole in the trapezoidal lever (2).
3. Turn the end of the spring so that it rests on the spring support stop (arrow A).
4. Insert the upper spring gasket (not shown in the illustration) into the upper end of the spring.
5. Carefully loosen the spring. At the same time, align the position of the upper spring gasket.
6. Observing the direction of rotation of the wheel, secure the rear wheel. Lower the car onto the wheels and only then tighten the wheel mounting bolts crosswise with a torque of 120 Nm.
