ADP and AHL (SOHC) engines
1. Remove the camshaft sprocket as described in paragraph 5.
2. Drill two small opposite holes in the oil seal to be replaced. Screw a screw into each of them and, pulling them with pliers, remove the oil seal. Be careful not to drill through the oil seal housing or the camshaft seal.
3. Clean the seal housing seating surface with a lint-free cloth. Remove any burrs to avoid premature damage to the seal.
4. Lubricate the oil seal with clean engine oil and install it into the housing.
5. Using a hammer and a cylindrical mandrel or head, press the seal evenly into the housing.
Note: A head that rests only on the outer hard edges of the seal can be selected as a mandrel.
6. Install the camshaft sprocket as described in paragraph 5.
Engines ADR, AFY, AEB and AJL (DOHC)
7. Remove the exhaust camshaft oil seal as described in paragraphs 1...6. Removing the intake camshaft oil seal is described below.
8. Remove the accessory drive belts as described in paragraph 6. Use an Allen key to remove the tensioner at the front of the engine.
9. Disconnect the wiring from the Hall sensor installed in front of the intake camshaft.
10. Unfasten and remove the upper timing belt cover.
11. Loosen the mounting bolt and remove the Hall sensor assembly from the cylinder head.
12. Remember the position of the Hall sensor rotor and washer. Unscrew the central bolt and remove the rotor with the washer. The rotor is fixed in the slot of the intake camshaft nose.
13. Drill two small opposite holes in the oil seal to be replaced. Screw a screw into each of them and, pulling them with pliers, remove the oil seal. Be careful not to drill through the oil seal housing or the camshaft seal.
14. Clean the seal housing with a lint-free cloth. Remove any burrs that could prematurely damage the seal.
15. Lubricate the seal with clean engine oil and place it on the camshaft, pushing it all the way to the housing. To prevent damage to the seal by sharp edges of the shaft, wrap them with adhesive tape (Fig. 8.15).

16. Using a hammer and a suitable cylindrical mandrel, press the seal evenly into the housing.

Note: For the mandrel, select a head that rests only on the outer hard edges of the seal.
17. Install the Hall sensor rotor onto the shaft, aligning it with the slot. Install the washer and bolt and tighten it to the specified torque.
18. Install the Hall sensor assembly onto the cylinder head and secure with the bolt, tightening it to the specified torque.
19. Install the upper timing belt cover, aligning it correctly with the lower cover and secure with latches.
20. Connect the wiring to the Hall sensor.
21. Install the tensioner to the front of the engine. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
22. Install the accessory drive belts - see paragraph 6.
