To ensure that steering does not become a chore, all Audi A4 models are equipped with a hydraulic booster – the so-called servo steering. In this case, the auxiliary force is a high-pressure hydraulic fluid, which is supplied in the steering gear housing to the rack, which functions as a piston. The direction in which the fluid is pumped is determined by you by turning the steering wheel. This rotation is transmitted to a valve system that controls the direction and amount of fluid flow. The pressure in the hydraulic system is generated by a vane pump driven by an engine via a V-belt or V-belt.
