If it is established that the fluid level in the expansion tank has dropped, then an urgent need to check the entire steering system. Otherwise, the servo may suddenly fail while driving.
Here are the verification steps:
1. Turn the steering wheel left and right once until it stops. This creates maximum pressure in the servo control hoses, and leaks are best seen.
2. While holding the steering wheel against the stop, look for a leak in the following places:
3. In the bypass valve piston: it is located approximately where the steering column enters the steering gear. In the event of a leak, oil enters the interior of the car under the dashboard in front on the frontal side.
4. In the gear rack seal. Oil emerges on one of the folds of the bellows on the front side. To check, loosen the clamps on the bellows and move it to the side.
5. In hydraulic pump. To determine the leakage, you must first wash the engine.
6. In hose connection points. Check all the connecting nodes one by one and, if necessary, tighten them. The tightening torque of the pump connectors is 50 Nm.
