1. The details of the engine mount and crossmember installation are shown in the illustration.

1 - Engine crossmember;
2, 17 - Bolt, subject to replacement, 120 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 180°;
3 - Right engine mount;
4, 15 - Bolt, 60 Nm;
5 - Bolt, 15 Nm;
6 - Ground wire;
7, 11 - Bolt, 50 Nm, then tighten to an angle of 90°;
8.14 - Nut, 75 Nm;
9/10 - Right/left engine bracket;
12 - Electrical wiring bracket;
13 - Nut, 23 Nm;
16 - Left engine mount.


2. Removal of the supports is carried out in the same way as on 3.0 TDI engines of the 1st generation (see Section 5). The following describes the removal/installation of the engine crossmember.

3. Remove the engine mounts (see Section 5).

4. Unscrew the two bolts and remove the heat shield (And in illustration 4.43) steering mechanism. Set the front wheels in the straight ahead position and secure the steering wheel with tape to prevent it/steering column from changing position. Remove the hinge mounting bolt (B) and separate it from the steering gear.

5. Unscrew the nut and remove the ground wire from the stud on the right side member (see illustration 4.47).



6. Unscrew the fasteners on both sides (2 in illustration 4.35) stabilizer on its struts.

7. On models before 05.2010, remove the bolt (see illustration 4.45) and move the fuel cooling pump "V166" to the side. Then unscrew the bolts (1 in the illustration), pull out the retainer, loosen the clamps (3 and 4) and remove the air hoses.

Separate the air tube.

8. On models from 06.2010, remove the cover (2 in the illustration), unscrew the bolt (3) and remove the damping weight (1).

9. Mark the installation position of the subframe and engine crossmember relative to the side members, and then unscrew the bolts (3 and 4 in illustration 4.51) and lower the front side of the subframe together with the engine crossmember. Remove the cross member forward.

10. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
