1KD mechanisms



1. The installation details of the rear brake mechanisms 1KD are shown in the illustration.

2. Jack up the car, place it on reliable supports and remove the rear wheel (see Introduction).

3. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor connector (1 in the illustration), release the sensor wire from the spring in the caliper.

Press the brake hose out of the bracket on the hub assembly carrier.

4. Lightly press the pistons into the caliper, resting against the installed pads. Monitor your brake fluid level; pump it out if necessary.

5. Loosen the bolts securing the caliper to the hub assembly holder. Remove the caliper from the disc and hang it on a wire on the body, preventing tension on the hose. If the caliper needs to be removed, disconnect the brake fluid line from it. After removing the caliper, the brake disc can be removed.

6. Follow the steps in paragraphs 23-28. Before installing the brake disc, the parking brake must be released. To do this, turn the adjusting nut (And in the illustration), overcoming the resistance of the spring (B).

8. Jack up the car, place it on reliable supports and remove the rear wheel (see Introduction).

9. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor connector (1 in illustration 3.3).

11. Press the retaining spring inward in the direction of the arrow (see illustration), and at the same time pull out the retaining pin (1).

Pull the brake pad wear sensor wiring out of the caliper housing and out of the retaining spring. Remove the retaining spring, push the pads away from the disc and remove them from the caliper. At the same time, make sure that the brake fluid does not leak out of the reservoir; if necessary, pump it out. If the brake pads are to be replaced, carefully remove the sensor and its wiring, inspect them, and if they are not damaged, save them for installation on the new pads.



12. Press the pistons into the caliper, monitoring the brake fluid level. Carefully install the sensors with wiring onto the new pads. Insert the pads into the caliper and install the retaining spring (1 in the illustration).

Place the sensor wiring under the retaining spring tab and into the caliper body (arrows).

13. Press the retaining spring inward and insert the retaining pin until it stops. Secure the pin with a cotter pin.

14. Connect the sensor connector and secure the sensor wiring to the bleed valve with a cap.

15. Install the wheel. With the vehicle stationary, press the brake pedal firmly several times until the brake pads are in working position. Correct the brake fluid level.

16. Remove the wheel.

17. Connect a hose to the bleed nipple, lower the other end into a container to collect the brake fluid and open the nipple.

18. Ask an assistant to depress the brake pedal and hold it in this position. You can also use a pedal pusher. In this case, the valves in the master cylinder close, and the liquid will not leak out of the reservoir.



19. Close the bleed nipple and disconnect the brake fluid hose from the caliper.

20. Remove the brake pads (see subsection above). Pull the wear sensor wire out of the holder.

21. Unscrew the caliper mounting bolts and remove it. After removing the caliper, the brake disc can be removed.

22. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Before installing the brake disc, the parking brake must be released. To do this, turn the adjusting nut (And in illustration 3.6), overcoming the resistance of the spring (B). Finally, bleed the brake hydraulic system.

2EF/1KK mechanisms

24. Jack up the car, place it on reliable supports and remove the rear wheel (see Introduction).

25. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor connector (1 in illustration 3.3), release the sensor wire from the spring in the caliper.

26. Press the pistons into the caliper, resting on the installed pads. At the same time, make sure that the brake fluid does not leak out of the reservoir; pump it out if necessary.

27. Knock out one retaining pin from the outside of the caliper (8 in illustration 3.23). Pressing on the retaining spring (18), remove the pin. Then remove the retaining spring, pull out the second pin and remove the pads from the caliper.

28. Clean the caliper with methylated spirits or a special brake cleaning fluid. If present, remove the protective film from the pads,

29. Install the wheel. With the vehicle stationary, press the brake pedal firmly several times until the brake pads are in working position. Correct the brake fluid level.

30. Perform the steps described in paragraphs 16-22. The caliper mounting bolts are shown in Illustration 3.23 (20).
