The frequency of maintenance of Audi Allroad vehicles is determined by the time factor or mileage. The need for maintenance is signaled to the driver by displaying a corresponding message on the display.

When the maintenance period is due, when the ignition is switched on, as well as when the engine is started, a message regarding the care and maintenance of the vehicle appears on the speedometer display for approximately one minute instead of the daily mileage indication. The message about the vehicle's due date appears in advance, approximately 1,000 kilometers remaining before the maintenance or 10 days if the due date is determined by a time indicator. The corresponding message looks like this:
  • service OIL (engine oil change);
  • service INSP (technical inspection).

The scope of work in the declared technical inspection may vary. After the maintenance work has been completed, it is necessary to delete the previous message about the onset of the maintenance period and enter new information. If maintenance was performed (service INSP), then the message about changing the oil when new maintenance intervals are introduced also needs to be updated.

When determining the service interval, the system for sending the corresponding messages is based on the period or the number of kilometers traveled since the previous message was deleted. Additional factors, such as, for example, the loads experienced by the vehicle, are not taken into account in this case.

Attention! Specialized AUDI workshops additionally query the self-diagnostic system memory about any malfunctions in the engine, ABS, airbag and anti-theft system during each vehicle inspection using the VAG 1551 reader (tester). We recommend contacting a specialized workshop for this purpose even in cases where the maintenance will be performed independently. The self-diagnostic system is queried via the diagnostic connector. The car owner can also ask the workshop staff to enter new data about the next scheduled maintenance.

Extended vehicle maintenance interval system

Servicing of Audi Allroad vehicles, starting with the 2002 model series, is carried out according to the so-called extended service interval system "Longlife-Service-System" (qG1 designation on the engine identification plate). In this case, a special slow-release oil is added to the engine at the manufacturer's plant (never aging) oil, which allows, depending on the engine load, to increase the intervals between vehicle maintenance to almost 35,000 km.

To perform maintenance according to the extended periodicity system, the vehicle must be equipped with the following devices:
  • 1. a counting and command device for sending a message about the maintenance deadlines;
  • 2. engine oil level sensor;
  • 3. brake lining wear sensor;
  • 4. the engine must be filled with extended-life motor oil that meets VOLKSWAGEN/AUDI standards;
  • 5. lead-calcium battery, which does not require maintenance.

The service interval has been increased for vehicles with a petrol engine to almost 30,000 kilometres or every 2 years, and for vehicles with a 6-cylinder diesel engine to 35,000 kilometres or every 2 years.

The driver is reminded of the approaching service date by a corresponding message on the instrument cluster display. Approximately 2,000 km or a month before the actual service date, the message appears on the display each time the ignition is turned on "service in 2000 km" (service after 2000 km of run). As the service date approaches, the remaining mileage changes in 100-kilometer increments. The remaining mileage can also be found by pressing the clock setting button once. When the service date approaches, the word "service!" appears on the display (service).

Important! If, when performing repairs or servicing on vehicles with the extended service interval system, engine oil of the normal VW/AUDI specification is added, and not for the extended service intervals, the counting and command device must be reprogrammed, changing the entry stating that the time intervals between services are flexible to the entry "interval is constant". In this case, subsequent maintenance of the vehicle is carried out in the same way as for vehicles with the normal service interval, i.e. every 15,000 kilometers or every 12 months. Reprogramming of the device is carried out by resetting the data using the setup keys on the instrument panel.

Deleting previous service records

Warning! Changing service period data between intervals is not allowed. This will result in incorrect messages.

Resetting old data and entering new data is performed in the workshop using the VAG 1551 tester, which is connected to the diagnostic connector on the left under the steering wheel.

If it is not possible to use the specified tester, then new data can be entered using the daily mileage reset button and the clock setting button.

1. Make sure the ignition is off.

2. Press and hold the trip mileage reset button.

3. Turn on the ignition without releasing the trip reset button. Do not start the engine.

4. Release the daily mileage reset button. The daily mileage display will show "SERVICE OIL" (oil change).

5. Pull out the clock setting button and hold it in this position until the inscription "SERVICE OIL" (oil change) will not disappear, and three dashes (- - -) will not appear in its place.

6. Press the daily mileage reset button and release it. The display will show "SERVICE INSP" (technical inspection).

7. Pull out the clock setting button and hold it in this position until the inscription "SERVICE OIL" (oil change) will not disappear, and three dashes (- - -) will not appear in its place.

8. Pull out the clock setting button and hold it in this position until the inscription "SERVICE INSP" (technical inspection) will not disappear, and three dashes (- - -) will not appear in its place.

9. Turn off the ignition.

Only vehicles with extended service intervals

Important! For vehicles with extended service intervals, entering new data is only possible using the VAG 1551 or VAS 5051 tester. An attempt to delete previous data and enter new data using the buttons on the instrument cluster will result in the extended service interval mode being switched to the message mode for the normal service plan.

Switching to the normal maintenance plan reporting mode.

10. Press the daily mileage reset button and, holding it down, turn on the ignition. Do not start the engine.

11. Release the trip odometer reset button.

The display will show the message "SERVICE in - - - Km" or else "SERVICE!" ("service in - - - kilometers" or "service!").

12. Press and hold the clock setting button until the inscription "SERVICE in - - - Km" or else "SERVICE!" ("service in - - - kilometers" or "service!") will not disappear, and a message will not appear instead "SERVICE in 15000 Km" ("service every 15,000 kilometers").

13. Turn off the ignition.

Oil change

Only vehicles without extended service intervals

The oil should be changed when the message appears (flashes) on the information display "SERVICE OIL" (oil change) or after 15,000 kilometers, if the mileage is 15,000.

Attention! Under difficult operating conditions, the oil should be changed more often. Such conditions are: driving mainly short distances or within the city, frequent driving on mountain or dusty roads, operating the vehicle with a trailer.

14. Change the oil and replace the oil filter. At the same time, check the remaining thickness of the front brake pads.

15. Enter new data about the timing of the next engine oil change.
