Towing rules

13. Turn on the ignition on the towed vehicle. This is necessary for the steering, turn signals, horn, windshield wipers and washers to function.

14. Set the gear shift lever to neutral position.

15. Turn on the warning lights on both the towing and towed vehicles.

It should be borne in mind that when the engine is not running, the power steering and brake booster do not operate. When braking, more force will need to be applied to the brake pedal. More force is also needed for the steering.

When using a towing cable, the driver of the towing vehicle must smoothly release the clutch when engaging a gear, and the driver of the towed vehicle must then ensure that the cable remains taut.

If there is no oil in the manual or automatic transmission, the vehicle must be towed with the drive wheels raised.

The maximum permissible towing speed for all models is 50 km/h.

The maximum permitted towing distance for a vehicle with an automatic transmission is 50 kilometers.

Vehicles with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive must not be towed with the front or rear wheels raised.

When towing a vehicle with a manual transmission and all-wheel drive with the front or rear wheels raised, the speed must not exceed 50 kilometers per hour, and the towing distance must not exceed 50 kilometers.
