Towing (Audi 80 B4)

Towing hooks are installed as standard on AUDI 80 vehicles. The front towing hook is located below the bumper on the right side. To access the hook, you need to remove the grille on the bumper. The rear towing hook is located under the rear bumper on the right side.

The towing rope is selected based on the fact that the weight of a fully loaded vehicle exceeds 1700 kg. The safest way to tow is to use a rigid towing hitch.

If the towing vehicle has a towing hitch, the towing hitch should be attached to the towbar. This will ensure better stability for both vehicles.

A faulty vehicle is very conveniently towed using a vehicle with an automatic transmission. In this case, it is best to set the transmission control lever of the "tractor" to "D" 2. However, if the towed vehicle has an automatic transmission, then certain conditions must be met. The automatic transmission lever on the towed vehicle must be moved to the "N" position. The speed must not exceed 50 km/h. A vehicle with an automatic transmission cannot be towed under its own power for a distance of more than 50 km. If the towing distance is longer, then towing should be done by partial loading or on a trailer.
