Table of contents: Examination ↓ Adjustment ↓
Examination
1. In neutral position, the selector lever should be between positions 3 and 4 gears.
2. Depress the clutch pedal and engage each gear several times. Make sure that the reverse gear lock is functioning properly.
3. The gear shift lever should automatically return to the position for engaging reverse gear to a position between 3rd and 4th gear.
4. If the lever "sticks" in any positions, or any gear does not engage, adjust the gear shift drive as described below.
Adjustment
5. Make sure that the gear shift rod is not damaged and is in satisfactory condition.
6. Make sure that the selector lever moves freely, without sticking.
7. Make sure that the manual transmission, clutch and clutch drive are in satisfactory condition.
8. Set the manual transmission to neutral position.
9. Follow the steps described in paragraphs 1-5 Section 4.
10. Measure the distance (and in the illustration) between the centers of the two studs, it should be 85 mm. Otherwise, loosen the bolt (arrow) of the push rod so that the rear push rod (in the gear shift lever mechanism) can move freely in both directions. Adjust the distance (a) by moving the rear push rod and tighten the bolt to 23 Nm.
5.10. Distance "a" between studs
11. Loosen the gear shift rod bolt (see illustration), so that the connection between the rod and the gearshift lever mechanism can move freely.
5.11. Gear shift rod bolt
12. Align the gear shift lever. To do this, center the bottom of the lever relative to the hinge guide so that the distance between them at each point is the same (see illustration).
5.12. Aligning the lever
13. Adjust the lever so that it is tilted approximately 3° to the right (see illustration) and, holding the lever in this position, tighten the bolt (see illustration 5.11).
5.13. Position of the lever during adjustment
14. Check the correct operation of the gearshift drive as described in the subsection above.
