With the automatic transmission selector positions between "+" and "-", "D" and "R" or "E" (in economy mode) and "R" the starter should not start. At a speed of over 5 km/h and switching the automatic transmission selector to the "N" position, the automatic transmission selector is not locked by the electromagnet. The selector must freely occupy the driving positions. When the selector is moved to the "N" position at a driving speed of less than 5 km/h (the car is practically at a standstill), the selector lock magnet should only operate after approximately 1 second. The selector can only be moved to the "N" position when the brake pedal is depressed.

Selector in the "STOP" position and ignition on: do not press the brake pedal. The automatic transmission selector is locked and, as long as the locking button on the selector handle is pressed, it cannot be moved from the "STOP" position. The automatic transmission selector lock solenoid "N110" locks the selector. Press and hold the brake pedal. The automatic transmission selector lock solenoid "N110" releases the selector lock. It is now possible to set the selector to the drive position.

The automatic transmission selector is in the "N" position and the ignition is on: do not press the brake pedal. The automatic transmission lever is locked and cannot be moved from the "N" position. The automatic transmission selector lock solenoid "N110" locks the selector. Press the brake pedal. The automatic transmission selector lock solenoid "N110" releases the selector lock. It is now possible to set the selector to the driving position.

Checking the ignition key removal lock

Turn on the ignition. Press and hold the brake pedal. The automatic transmission selector can be moved from the "STOP" position only when the locking button on the selector handle without a "lever" is pressed. Turn off the ignition. The ignition key must not be removed in any of the automatic transmission selector positions except "STOP". Move the selector lever to the "STOP" position. Remove the ignition key. Remove the ignition key only when the selector is in the "STOP" position. The selector cannot be moved from the "STOP" position when the locking button and the brake pedal are pressed. If the ignition key removal lock is not performed as described, perform "Vehicle Self-Diagnostics".
