Note: Description is given for models except 3.0 TDI and 3.2 FSI.
1. Remove the front wheel and sound insulation (see Chapter 11).
2. On models with headlight leveling, separate the height sensor arm from the control arm.
3. Secure the brake disc with one wheel bolt.
4. Loosen the nut on the pivot pin of the control arm until it is flush with the edge of the thread (see illustration 4.10 Chapter 8). If necessary, hold the pin from turning with a 4 mm rod wrench. Press the hinge pin out of the seat using a puller. The two levers of the puller should be parallel to each other at maximum force.
5. Unscrew the bolt (1 in illustration 4.5 Chapter 8), bolts (2 and 4) and remove the stabilizer bar. Unscrew the bolt (3) and remove the control arm.
6. Install and tighten the new bolt (3 in illustration 4.5 Chapter 8) and a new nut. Remove the locking sealant from the threads of the bearing arm pivot pin and screw the nut onto it. Tighten the bolts (1, 2 and 4) in sequence.
7. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of dismantling the components.
