Service intervals for AUDI A6 vehicles depend on the vehicle's operating time and mileage.

When the next maintenance is due, the Service indicator appears for 1 minute instead of the daily mileage counter after the ignition is turned on and the engine is started for 1 minute. The message appears 1000 km or 10 days before the upcoming maintenance.

The Service indicator displays one of the following symbols indicating the required type of maintenance:
  • oil change service - service OEL;
  • service control — service INSP.

Approximately one minute after the engine is started, the service indicator light disappears.

The scope of work performed during maintenance varies and is quite large. After performing the INSP service check, it is necessary to separately call the preceding OEL service indicator and set it to the initial (zero) position.

After performing maintenance, it is necessary to set the service indicator to its original (zero) position.

The Service indicator uses the vehicle's operating time and mileage since the last reset as a guideline for calculating service cycles. No additional factors are taken into account.

Attention. The AUDI service center additionally checks the fault memory of the electronic devices controlling the engine, ABS, airbags and anti-theft device during each service using the special VAG 1551 device. Therefore, it makes sense to visit the AUDI service center, even if the service is performed by yourself. The fault memory is interrogated during diagnostics: in this case, at the customer's request, the Service indicator can be reset to its initial position between maintenance services.

Longlife Service

On AUDI A6 cars from the 2000 model year (letter Y) and chassis number 4 BYN 002 888, the so-called system is used "Longlife-Service". These vehicles are equipped with specially designed engines with longer engine oil change intervals. As a result, the service interval, depending on the engine load, is up to 35,000 km of vehicle mileage.

To carry out "Longlife-Service" the following equipment is required:
  • flexible service indication of service intervals;
  • engine oil condition sensor;
  • brake pad condition sensor;
  • longlife motor oil VW/AUDI standards;
  • low maintenance lead-calcium battery.
