Warning: Vehicles with a characteristic cooling system do not have a conventional thermostat.
Removal
1. Drain the coolant.
2. Disconnect the lower coolant hose from the connecting pipe (2). First, open the clamp and slide it back completely.

3. Unscrew the bolts (1) and remove the connecting pipe with the thermostat (4).
4. Turn the thermostat 90° to the left and remove it from the connection pipe.
Installation
1. Be sure to replace the seals and O-rings.
2. Clean the sealing surfaces.
3. Insert the thermostat (4) with a new sealing ring (3) into the connecting pipe (2) and turn it 90° to the right.
Caution: The thermostat clamps should be almost vertical.
4. Insert the connecting pipe with the thermostat into the cylinder block and secure it with torque 15 Nm.
5. Fill the system with coolant, refer to Section Checking the engine with a vacuum gauge.
