The steering column switch controls the direction indicators, high beam, windscreen wipers and cruise control.
Removal
1. Set the car wheels straight.
2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
Warning: Follow the instructions in Section Replacing the battery.
Caution: Be sure to follow the safety precautions when handling the airbag, refer to Section General information and safety precautions.
3. Remove the steering wheel airbag, refer to Section Removal and installation the airbag unit.
4. Fully extend the steering wheel using the steering wheel adjuster and lower the wheel down.
5. Remove the steering wheel, refer to Section Removal and installation the steering wheel.
6. Remove screws (3), (4) and (5).

7. Disconnect the upper trim (2) from the lower trim (1). Remove the trims from the steering column switch.
8. Disconnect the connector (1) of the contact spiral.

9. Carefully release the locking hook (arrows) and disconnect the contact coil from the steering column switch.
Warning: Be sure to ensure that the contact spiral is not twisted from its middle position. If this does happen, adjust the position of the contact spiral of the steering wheel angle sensor at a service station after installation.
10. Remove the screw (9).

- 8 — Steering column control unit
- 9 - Screw
- 10 — Windscreen wiper switch
- 11 - Screw
11. Disconnect all connectors from the steering column switch.
10. Carefully remove the steering column switch with the control unit (8) from the steering shaft.
Installation
1. Set the car wheels straight.
2. Install the steering column switch on the steering shaft, connect the connector and screw in the screw (9).
3. Install the contact spiral onto the steering shaft and carefully fix it.
Caution: Be careful not to twist the contact coil.
4. Connect the connector (1) of the contact spiral.
5. Install the lower steering column trim and insert the upper trim into the lower one. Secure the trims.
Caution: Be sure to follow the safety precautions, refer to Section General information and safety precautions.
6. Reinstall the steering wheel and airbag unit, refer to Sections Removal and installation the steering wheel and Removal and installation the steering wheel.
7. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
