Removal
1. Mark the direction of rotation on the tire. Loosen the wheel mounting bolts. Raise and place the front of the car on stands and remove the wheel.
2. Remove the bolt (1).

3. Unscrew the nut (5) and remove the bolt (2).
Warning: Do not enlarge the spline in the wheel bearing housing with a chisel or any other similar tool.
Warning: Do not use a chisel or any similar tool to remove the tie rod by driving it between the swing arm (1) and the sealing washer (2) of the tie rod end. The tie rod can only be removed by pressing the end of the trunnion out of the steering arm or by hitting it with a wooden or rubber mallet.
4. Remove the steering rod downwards.

5. Unscrew the lock nut (3) and unscrew the tip from the steering rod.
6. Wipe the tie rod end and the terminal hole on the wheel bearing housing.
Installation
1. Screw the tip onto the steering rod until it stops.
2. Tighten the lock nut (3) to torque 40Nm. AUDI service stations use the VAG 1332/12 tool for this. When tightening, hold the steering rod from turning using the hexagon (4).
3. Adjust the steering rod so that the end journal is in the installation position.
4. Insert the steering rod into the pendulum arm until it stops.

Warning: Insert the steering rod into the swing arm (1) only by hand, without applying strong pressure to the sealing washer (2) of the tip.
5. Insert the bolt (2) and screw on a new nut (5), tighten the nut to the specified torque 50Nm.

6. Install the bolt (1) and tighten it to torque 7Nm.
7. Install and secure the wheel, observing the direction of its rotation. Lower the car and only then tighten the bolts crosswise to the torque 120 Nm.
8. Take measurements of the vehicle's chassis (work of the service station).
