Removal
Warning: To remove the front seat with side airbag, the AUDI VAS 6036 adapter is required.
1. Height adjustable seat: Raise the seat.
2. Pull up the cover (2) over the end (1) of the seat belt and remove it.

3. Press the belt end (1) down (arrows) and disconnect it from the seat. Pull the seat belt out of the belt guide at the seat.
4. Move the front seat (4) forward.

5. Pull out the 4 clips (2) and remove the rear safety covers (1).
6. Slide the front seat back, pull out the 2 clips and remove the front guide covers.
7. Remove 2 screws (3) at the back and front.
8. To prevent the head airbag from deploying, turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative (-) and then the positive battery cables. For instructions, see Section Replacing the battery.
9. Fold back the front seat (4) and lift up the cover (5) of the plug box.

Caution: Before disconnecting the side airbag connector, discharge any static electricity by briefly touching the door lock or body. The airbag adapter must remain connected until the seat is reinstalled. Always follow the safety precautions when handling the airbag, refer to Section General information and safety precautions.
10. Press the tab on the connector and disconnect the side airbag connector (orange) (6).
11. Disconnect the power supply connector (red) (7), seat heating (8) (green) and seat belt (black) (9), if any.
12. Connect the side airbag connector (orange) (6) to the airbag adapter VAS 6036.
Warning: The adapter provides additional protection against electrostatic discharge.
13. If possible, connect the other end of the airbag adapter to the power supply plug (red) (7).
14. Remove the front seat.
Installation
1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. In this case, secure the front seat with a torque 50Nm.
Caution: There must be no one in the vehicle when connecting the battery.
2. Remove the insulating tape from the negative battery terminal, connect the positive (+) cable first and then the negative (-) cable to the battery.
Warning: Follow the instructions in Section Replacing the battery.
3. If after turning on the ignition the airbag indicator on the dashboard does not go out, it is necessary to read the information from the fault memory at the service station.
