Withdrawal
Warning: Removing the front seat with side airbag requires an adapter AUDI VAS 6036.
1. Height adjustable seat: Raise the seat.
2. Pull up the cover (2) above the tip (1) seat belt and remove.
3. Press the tip of the belt (1) down (arrows) and disconnect from the seat. Pull the seat belt out of the seat belt guide.
4. Move the front seat (4) forward.
5. Pull out 4 clips (2) and remove the rear safety covers (1).
6. Slide the front seat back, pull out the 2 clips and remove the front rail covers.
7. Remove 2 screws (3) back and front.
8. To prevent the head airbag from deploying, turn off the ignition and first disconnect the negative (-), and then the positive battery cables. See Section Replacing the battery.
9. Tilt back the front seat (4) and remove the top cover (5) plug box.
Caution: Before disconnecting the side airbag connector, discharge the static charge by briefly touching the door or body lock. The airbag adapter must remain connected until the seat is reinstalled. Be sure to observe safety precautions when handling the airbag, refer to Section General information and security measures.
10. Press the tab at the plug and disconnect the side airbag connector (Orange color) (6).
11. Disconnect the power supply connector (Red color) (7), seat heating (8) (green color) and seat belt (black color) (9), if any.
12. Connect the side airbag plug (Orange color) (6) to airbag adapter VAS 6036.
Warning: The adapter provides additional ESD protection.
13. If possible, connect the other end of the airbag adapter to the power supply plug (Red color) (7).
14. Remove the front seat.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. At the same time, secure the front seat with a moment 50nm.
Caution: When connecting the battery, there must be no people in the passenger compartment.
2. Remove the insulating tape from the negative pole of the battery, connect the positive first (+), and then the negative cable (-) to the battery.
Warning: Follow the instructions in Section Replacing the battery.
3. If after switching on the ignition, the airbag indicator on the dashboard does not go out, it is necessary to read the information from the fault memory at the service station.
