Removal



Caution: When disconnecting the air bag system cables, be sure to observe air bag safety precautions, refer to Section General information and safety precautions.


Warning: Please note the installation position of the seat belt as there may be different variations.


1. To prevent the head airbag from deploying, turn off the ignition and disconnect first the negative (-) and then the positive battery cables

2. Disconnect the A-pillar trim in the B-pillar area, refer to the relevant section.

3. Disconnect the D-pillar trim/trailer lid trim (Wagon) in the B-pillar area, refer to the relevant section.

4. Remove the B-pillar trim at the top and bottom, refer to the relevant Section.

5. Remove the seat belt (1) from the front seat, refer to Section Removal and installation the front seat.

Warning: Arrow A in the accompanying illustration points in the direction of travel of the vehicle. (2) – Belt end, (5) – Belt guide.


6. Loosen the screw (4) and remove the belt winder (3).

7. Use a screwdriver to pull out the yellow safety bar and disconnect the yellow-blue connector (9).



8. Loosen the screw (7) and disconnect the belt (1) from the height adjuster (6). (8) - height adjuster mounting bolt, 23Nm.

Installation



Caution: Do not press the locking button (10) of the belt height adjuster during installation.


1. Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.

2. If the tongue of the buckle of a certain version of the belt is directed towards the B-pillar when the belt is not in use, it is necessary to turn the belt tape by 180° when installing (arrow in the illustration above).

3. Tighten bolts (4) and (7) to torque 55Nm.

4. Check the operation of the belt height adjuster, refer to Section Removal and installation the upper trim of the B-pillar.

Caution: There must be no one in the vehicle when connecting the battery.


5. Remove the insulating tape from the negative battery terminal, connect the positive (+) cable first and then the negative (-) cable to the battery.

Warning: Follow the instructions in Section Replacing the battery.
