It should be noted that the engine control unit is equipped with self-diagnostics. When the connector is removed from the control unit, all parameters determined during the system self-training are erased, but the data recorded in the fault recorder is saved.
The parameters are checked in accordance with the above table of ignition and fuel injection system parameters. During some checks, the control unit may detect a malfunction and store its code in memory. Therefore, after all checks and repairs are completed, it is necessary to interrogate the fault recorder and, if necessary, erase the data stored there (in the workshop!).
If after troubleshooting, repair or checking of parts the engine starts for a short time and then immediately stalls, the reason may be that the engine control device is blocked by the anti-theft device. In this case, it is necessary to interrogate the fault recorder again and, if necessary, to coordinate the control device.
Disabling the ignition system
If the engine is turned over by the starter with the main high-voltage wire removed, the control device will inevitably be damaged. Therefore, to prevent the control device from malfunctioning, the ignition system must be disconnected during certain operations.
To disable the ignition system, first remove the engine cover. Then, with the ignition off, remove the connectors from the powerful output stages.
