1. Are the wires and multi-pin plugs on the ignition coils and control unit securely fastened? The high-voltage wires must be securely inserted into the sockets. When the air trapped in the sockets heats up, the wires may lift slightly and cause interruptions in engine operation. If the wires are not firmly seated on the spark plugs, leakage currents and spark flashovers may occur due to the high voltage.
2. Check the ignition coil housings; there should be no cracks or traces of burning on them (due to breakdown).
3. Check the condition of the wires. The wires should not be frayed. Frayed and melted wires, as well as wires with signs of breakage, should be replaced immediately.
4. If there is a layer of road salt on the wires, remove it.
