The condition of the electrodes can be used to determine whether the engine is operating optimally. Spark plugs, to a certain extent, show how the combustion takes place in the cylinder. When inspecting the removed spark plugs, note the following:
The tip of the insulator has a light gray or gray color. The ignition system is adjusted correctly, the engine is running in economy mode.
The tip of the insulator has a whitish color. The ignition timing is set incorrectly, the automatic control of the ignition timing is faulty in the control unit.
Black deposits in the form of soot. Spark plug does not heat up to self-cleaning temperature (frequent transportation over short distances), incorrectly selected heat value, too high CO content.
Oil layer on the electrodes. Defective piston rings, guide bushings or valve stem seals. You may be using engine oil or fuel with additives. Change the spark plugs, change the oil and brand of fuel, and then check the condition of the spark plugs again.
