Removal
1. Remove the gearbox as described in chapter 7A (Fig. 7.1).

2. Using a screwdriver, carefully unhook the "fork" from the hinge post inside the bell. Remove the lever together with the release bearing from the guide sleeve (fig. 7.2, a, b).

3. Use a screwdriver to press the plastic latches and separate the bearing from the lever (fig. 7.3, a, b).

4. Remove the plastic cover through which the lever is attached to the hinge post.
Examination
5. Turn the bearing by hand, make sure it rotates smoothly and evenly. If there is a hint of binding or noise, replace the bearing. If the bearing is intact and is to be reinstalled, wipe it with a clean, dry cloth. Do not wash the bearing with solvents under any circumstances, so as not to spoil the internal lubricant.
Installation
6. Lubricate the pivot post and plastic cover with a small amount of high-temperature grease based on finely dispersed copper (Fig. 7.6). Apply a thin layer of grease to the contact surface of the release bearing, the petals of the diaphragm. "forks" and to the guide sleeve.

7. Install the spring on the fork and make sure the plastic cover is in place on the pivot post. Install the fork together with the bearing and press the lever on the pivot until the spring clicks (Fig. 7.7).
