The Audi is equipped with a so-called maintenance-free battery, which, due to its larger volume of liquid, should, under normal circumstances, be able to operate without the addition of distilled water throughout its entire service life.
Execution order
1. The liquid in the battery should at least reach the lower of the two marks applied with varnish on the case or stamped on it by stripes, and should well cover the upper edge of the plates.
2. If the fluid level has dropped, unscrew the plug.
3. If the battery is charged normally, add distilled water to the upper mark or 15 mm above the upper edge of the plates.
4. If the battery is very discharged, add as much water as needed to cover the plates. When charging, the liquid level rises significantly.
5. Add distilled water to the upper mark only after the battery has been charged.
6. The amount of water added must be well dosed, otherwise the battery will be overfilled.
7. An overfilled battery boils over, acid comes out from under the plug
Removal the battery

Removing the battery: Remove the degassing hose. First loosen the negative terminal (3), then remove the positive pole cover (4) and unscrew the positive terminal (5). Now you can loosen the bolt (1) on the mounting plate (2) of the battery base.
1. First, make sure that the code for the radio anti-theft coding device is available so that it can be reactivated after installation.
2. Always disconnect the wire connected to the negative terminal first to prevent a short circuit during further work.
3. Loosen the nut on the negative terminal and disconnect the terminal.
4. Loosen the positive terminal and disconnect.
5. Unscrew the bolt of the mounting plate at the base of the battery, remove the bolt and remove the plate.
6. Remove the plastic hose from the central degassing system.
7. Remove the battery.
8. When installing, first connect the wire to the positive terminal, then the negative terminal.
9. You can only change the wire terminals by applying a lot of force, since the head of the positive pole is thicker than the head of the negative pole.
10. Don't forget about the central degassing hose.
11. If you have a radio with an anti-theft code, enter the code number again.
Caring for battery contacts
1. Wash off the oxide crystals with warm alkaline water or treat with Varta's "Noutralon".
2. Lubricate the battery terminal heads and wire terminals with acid protection agent (Bosch "Ft 40 v 1").
3. Do not lubricate the sides of the pole heads and the inside of the terminals, otherwise contact difficulties may occur.
