Table of contents: Constant control ↓ Is the horn faulty? ↓

Both horn horns (1 and 2) are mounted on the right front behind the bumper. They become accessible after removing the lower engine compartment trim.
Constant control
If the ignition is on, pressing the horn plate in the steering wheel should produce a double beep. The horn contact creates a ground connection in the horn relay control circuit (Chapter Electrical equipment). Current is supplied to the relay from terminal 75 of the ignition switch, which supplies power only when the ignition is on. In a closed electrical circuit (i.e. when the horn plate is pressed) the relay contacts close and current is supplied to the horn horns via the wire in the black/yellow sheath. The connection to ground is made via the brown wire.
Is the horn faulty?
1. Remove the lower trim of the engine compartment (chapter Body parts).
2. Disconnect the wire connector.
3. Remove the corresponding horn.
4. Connect an auxiliary wire to each horn connector and connect them to the positive and negative terminals of the battery.
5. If it does not sound, then the horn is faulty.
6. A grinding or silent horn can be corrected or brought back to life by turning the adjustment screw on the back of the horn.
7. Expose the screw under the filling compound.
8. After adjustment, seal the screw again with sealing compound.
