As a power plant in AUDI 80 cars, both petrol and diesel engines are used, differing from each other both in design and in the number of cylinders. Petrol engines are the most diverse. Cars are equipped with four-, five- and six-cylinder petrol engines. Along with a different number of cylinders, petrol engines can also differ in the number of camshafts. These engines, in turn, have different fuel injection systems. As for diesel engines, two designs of engines are installed on the AUDI 80 model.

All engines are longitudinally mounted in the engine compartment. Decoding the vehicle identification number

Vehicle Identification Number (previously it was called the body number) is of great importance. This especially concerns the work of the vehicle registration and control bodies and insurance companies. In addition, the identification number is required when purchasing spare parts for the car.

WAU ZZZ 8C Z P A 151834

1 (WAU) — manufacturer designation: WAU = AUDI AG
2 (ZZZ) and 4(Z) are unused characters
3 (8C) — two-digit model designation: 8C = AUDI 80
5 (P) — year of model release (usually the year is calculated from 1.8. of the previous year to 31.7. of the following year): N = 1992, P = 1993, R = 1994, etc.
6 (A) — place of production of the car within the Volkswagen concern: A = Ingolstadt
7 (151834) - serial number (each model year starts with the number 000 001)
