The exhaust system is secured on the exhaust manifold side by a bracket on the gearbox. Along the bottom, the system is suspended on rubber pads.

1. Check the condition of the rubber cushions of the exhaust system suspension. Make sure that they do not have breaks, cracks or other damage. Replace the cushions if necessary.

2. Check the tightening of the bolts securing the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold (35 Nm), as well as the tightening of the bolts securing the exhaust pipe suspension bracket to the gearbox (25 Nm).

3. Plug the exhaust pipe opening with the engine running. The engine should stall after a short period of time. If the engine does not stall and hissing is heard, the exhaust system is not tight.

If the operation of the exhaust system is accompanied by more muffled sounds than usual, or if the system "shoots" when coasting, this indicates that the exhaust pipes are rusty.

Air filter - replacing the filter element

AUDI recommends replacing the air filter element every 30,000 km. This recommendation applies to the operation of the vehicle under normal road conditions and with periodic cleaning of the filter element. If the vehicle is operated in very dusty conditions and on unpaved roads, the filter element must be replaced more often.

The paper filter element must be cleaned by blowing at least once a year or after 15,000 km. It goes without saying that when operating the car on dusty roads, etc., the filter element should be cleaned more often.

1. Remove the air filter and take out the replaceable filter element.

2. Tap the replacement filter element on a hard surface to remove large particles of dirt.

3. Blow the filter element with compressed air, directing the air stream onto the filter plates from the side. Never blow the filter element by directing the air stream perpendicularly. This will "drive" the dust particles even deeper into the filter pores.

4. Install the air filter back into place.
