The engine starts poorly or does not start at all

There is no fuel in the tank
  • Fill up

Preheating time too short
  • Preheat until the preheat control light goes out

Cold engine start accelerator rod not pulled out
  • Pull out the cold start accelerator rod

Preheating system defective
  • Fix the defect

The fuel shut-off valve is loose or faulty. The valve power supply wire may be broken
  • Check the fuel shut-off valve

Air in the fuel system
  • Operate the starter until the pump begins to deliver fuel

The fuel supply system is faulty
  • Disconnect the fuel line from the injector and make sure that fuel is coming. Check the hoses. They may be clogged, kinked. The fuel filter may be clogged. In winter, diesel fuel may become paraffinized.

High pressure fuel lines are incorrectly connected to the injectors after their dismantling
  • Check the fuel line connections. Fuel line A from the high-pressure fuel pump should go to the injector of cylinder #1, B - to the injector of cylinder #3, C - to the injector of cylinder #4, D - to the injector of cylinder #2.

Fuel injection pump supply is out of adjustment
  • Adjust the fuel supply of the injection pump

Defective or dirty one or more injectors. Possibly the injection pressure is incorrect
  • Check and repair (in the workshop) or replace

Fuel injection pump defect
  • Replace the fuel injection pump

Poor or uneven engine idle

Incorrect idle speed adjustment
  • Adjust idle speed

The accelerator cable is incorrectly adjusted or its movement is difficult
  • Adjust the accelerator cable or "loose" it

The fuel hose between the fuel filter and the pump is loose

  • Tighten the hose mounting nuts

The rear part of the fuel injection pump has become loose or broken
  • Secure the fuel injection pump

The engine mount is loose
  • Tighten the engine mounting bolts and nuts on the suspension mounts

The fuel injection pump is incorrectly adjusted
  • Adjust the fuel injection pump

Black, white or blue exhaust outlet

The engine is not warmed up
  • Check the exhaust gas outlet after the engine reaches operating temperature

The air filter is dirty
  • Clean or replace the filter

The fuel filter is dirty
  • Replace the fuel filter

Maximum engine speed adjustment is out of adjustment
  • Adjust engine speed

Leaky injectors
  • Check the injectors and replace if necessary

The injector needle is stuck or the needle is broken
  • Check the injectors and replace the faulty one

Low injection pressure
  • Check the injectors and adjust the injection pressure if necessary

Low engine efficiency. The car does not develop the required speed

Short accelerator pedal travel
  • Adjust the accelerator cable. The accelerator pedal stroke may have become short due to the additional mat on the floor near the pedal

The accelerator cable is not adjusted correctly
  • Adjust the cable

The fuel supply lever on the high-pressure fuel pump has become loose
  • Secure the lever

Maximum engine speed is not reached
  • Adjust the maximum engine speed

Injector heat shield gaskets are leaky or defective
  • Check the injector heat shields

Incorrect injector opening pressure
  • Adjust the pressure

Increased fuel consumption

The fuel system is leaking
  • Check all hoses, pipes, filter and fuel pump

The fuel return line is clogged

  • Blow out the fuel return line with compressed air

Excessive idle speed
  • Adjust (in the workshop)

Maximum engine speed too high
  • Adjust (in the workshop)
