Removal



1. Remove the brake drum.

2. Press the spring clamp of the brake shoe support pin with pliers and turn it 90°. Hold the support pin from the back of the support shield so that it does not rotate together with the clamp (see illustration).

1 - front brake shoe
2 - brake shoe support pin with spring and clamp
3 - expansion bar
4 - upper brake shoe tension spring
5 - wedge of the mechanism for automatic adjustment of the gap between the pads and the drum
6 - wedge return spring
7 - lower brake shoe tension spring
8 - support spring of the expansion bar
9 - parking brake lever
10 - rear brake shoe brake lining
11 - brake shoe support pin


3. Remove the clamp and guide spring.

4. Disconnect the return spring of the wedge of the mechanism for automatic adjustment of the gap between the shoes and the drum.

5. Disconnect the brake pads from the support plate at the bottom and from the wheel cylinder piston stops at the top.

6. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake shoes.



7. Remove the upper and lower brake shoe tension springs.

8. Remove the wedge of the automatic clearance adjustment mechanism between the brake shoes and the drum from the expansion bar.

9. Disconnect the support spring of the expansion bar. If necessary, clamp the expansion bar in a vice.

Installation



10. Clamp the expansion bar in a vice to install the support spring on the brake shoe.

11. Secure the support spring to the second brake shoe and insert the wedge of the automatic clearance adjustment mechanism from above. Its tongue should face the brake shoe.

12. Secure the parking brake lever and upper tension spring to the rear brake shoe.

13. Secure the parking brake cable to the drive lever before installing the brake shoes in place.
