1 - Upper toothed belt cover
2 - bolt, 10 Nm
3 - cap
4 - toothed belt
5 - tension roller
6 - fastening nut, 45 Nm
7 - rear cover of the toothed belt
8 - bolt, 30 Nm. Coated with protective agent VAG-D6
9 - bolt, 30 Nm
10 - V-belt. Check the tension by pressing with your thumb. Generator V-belt: the deflection is 2 mm for a new one, 5 mm for a used one. The deflection of the V-belt for additional devices is 10 mm.
11 - Crankshaft pulley. Mount correctly. The vibration damper can only be installed in one position because the holes are offset
12 - bolt, 20 Nm
13 - lower cover of the toothed belt
14 - crankshaft gear
15 - bolt. Observe tension forces:
  • Hexagon bolt (M12x1.5): 80 Nm, coat with protective agent VAG D6.
  • Hexagon bolt (M 14x1.5): 180 Nm, lubricate the thread.
  • Twelve-sided bolt 90 Nm + ¼ turn (90°).
  • The bolt can be tightened in several stages, it is important to return it to 90°.

Always use a new twelve-sided bolt. Use the VW-3099 holder to loosen or tighten

16 - intermediate shaft gear
17 - bolt, 80 Nm
