The front suspension is independent, coil spring struts and lower wishbones. Telescopic shock absorbers are attached to the struts, the lower suspension arms are mounted on the front cross member.
The rear suspension is a torsion bar, with trailing arms attached to the bottom. Telescopic shock absorbers are attached to the cross member and include coil spring mountings to form the strut configuration. The lateral movement of the transverse beam is controlled by a diagonal rod.
Steering type rack and pinion. Unlike the normal arrangement, only one end of the rack is used to move the tie rods from side to side. Models with direct steering are equipped with a hydraulic shock absorber that compensates for bumps in the road. The amplifier is installed on most models.
Procon-Ten protection system (Programmable Compression/Tension) can be equipped as an optional add-on. It consists of two steel cables attached to the seat belt reels and steering column tube. The cables run around the back of the gearbox. In a severe frontal collision, the engine and gearbox move back towards the passenger compartment. As a result of this, two cables are pulled, twisting the seat belt drums and retracting the steering column tube forward.
