The front suspension of the Audi A2 consists of McPherson struts and lower wishbones screwed to the wheel bearing housings and to the subframe consoles. Camber is adjusted by shifting the subframe and both front consoles. The required toe angle is set by independent adjustment of the left and right tie rods. To reduce roll in a turn, a stabilizer bar is provided. Its mounting posts are screwed directly under the plates of the shock absorber springs. The springs in the struts have a large bearing area and are not installed coaxially to reduce lateral forces. To increase the smoothness of the ride, the forces from the springs and shock absorbers are transmitted to the body independently of each other.
