Disconnect the wires from the digital idle speed controller (if it is installed) and connect them together.
Disconnect the central high-voltage wire from the ignition distributor sensor and short it to ground.
Connect the test lamp to terminals "15" ("+") and "1" ("-") of the ignition coil. Turn on the starter for 5 seconds. The lamp should flash. If this does not happen, the ignition distributor sensor is faulty and must be replaced.
Setting the ignition timing
Warm up the engine (until the coolant temperature is at least 60°C).
Check the engine idle speed without disconnecting the vacuum hoses.
Disconnect the wires from the digital idle speed controller (if it is installed) and connect them together.
Remove the plug from the clutch housing hatch, connect the stroboscope according to the operating instructions.
Note: To clearly see the mounting protrusion on the clutch housing, lean over the clutch housing hatch.
Direct the flashing beam of the stroboscope into the clutch housing hatch. If the ignition timing is set correctly, the initial ignition timing mark on the flywheel should be aligned with the installation protrusion on the clutch housing.
To adjust, loosen the flange mounting bolt of the distributor sensor and, by turning its body, align the mark with the installation protrusion, then tighten the flange mounting bolt.
