On engines with an expansion tank built into the radiator
After the engine has cooled down, remove the radiator cap and check the coolant level, which should be between the two marks on the top of the expansion tank.
Warning: Do not remove the radiator cap until the engine has cooled down. After the engine has cooled down, turn the cap one turn counterclockwise to release excess pressure. Then completely unscrew the radiator cap.
On engines with a remote expansion tank
The walls of the expansion tank are transparent, which allows you to check the coolant level without removing the cap from the tank. On a cold engine, the coolant level should be at the tip of the arrow on the tank wall. On a hot engine, the coolant level should be slightly above the arrow.
Warning: If it is necessary to top up the coolant to the specified level, the same precautions should be taken as for an engine with an expansion tank built into the radiator.
The engine cooling system is hermetically sealed. Therefore, any decrease in the coolant level in the expansion tank can only be caused by a leak in the system. Determine the leak location by checking the radiator, hoses, cylinder head gasket, and then fix it.
Add cold coolant only when the engine is cold to avoid damaging the engine.
Generator drive belt
After 15,000 km of running, check the tension of the alternator drive belt. The belt tension is considered normal if, when pressing the middle of the long branch of the belt with the thumb with a force of about 10 kgf, the deflection is 10-15 mm.
Warning: Do not drive the vehicle with a worn or torn belt, as such a belt will not ensure proper circulation of the cooling system fluid and normal operation of the generator.
Electric fan of the cooling system
When the engine is hot, the electric fan may suddenly turn on even when the ignition is off. Therefore, when performing any work on a hot or running engine, the worker's hands and clothing should be kept away from the fan blades to avoid injury.
