Transmission
1. If the automatic transmission covers are removed, or if there is no working fluid in the automatic transmission, do not start the engine or tow the vehicle without lifting the front wheels off the ground.
2. Before removing bolts, thoroughly clean the area around them and the connection points.
3. When installing the AT, make sure that the guide bushings between the engine and transmission are correctly seated.
4. Install only clean parts. Remove new parts from packaging immediately before installation. Place the removed parts on a clean surface and cover them. Use plastic bags and paper, or lint-free rags.
5. If repairs cannot be completed immediately, cover the parts.
6. With the AT removed, secure the torque converter from falling.
Seals
7. Use new O-rings and gaskets.
8. Before installing the radial seals (oil seals), lightly lubricate their outer diameter and fill the space between the sealing lips halfway with G052 128 grease.
9. The open side of the seal must face the working fluid.
10. After replacing the seal, check and adjust the working fluid level (see Chapter 1).
Nuts and bolts
11. Loosen and tighten the threaded fasteners of the covers and housings in a diagonal order.
12. The tightening torques given apply to unlubricated threaded fasteners.
13. The threads of bolts tightened with a locking sealant should be cleaned with a wire brush before installation, and then AMV185 100A1 locking sealant should be applied to the threads.
14. Remove any remaining thread locking compound from the threaded holes using a tap before screwing the self-locking bolts into them. Otherwise, there is a risk of the bolts being cut off when they are subsequently unscrewed.
15. Replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
Handling electronic components
16. Before handling electronic components, discharge any static electricity by touching a grounded point with your bare hand.
