The tension of the poly V-belt is carried out automatically. It is necessary to periodically check the condition of the belt and replace the belt if any defects are found.

Place the gear shift lever in neutral position.

Remove the lower engine compartment splash shield.

Use chalk to mark the belt.

Using the pulley mounting bolt, turn the crankshaft clockwise until the mark appears, while visually checking the condition of the belt.

The following defects may be found on the poly V-belt:
  • traces of oil and grease;
  • wear of the edges of the wedge projections;
  • hardening of the edges of the wedge protrusions;
  • transverse cracks on the back side of the belt;
  • delamination of individual wedge protrusions;
  • fraying of the end edges of the belt;
  • transverse cracks in some wedge protrusions;
  • destruction of individual wedge protrusions.

If any of the defects are present, replace the belt.

Install the lower engine compartment splash shield.
