Attention! As a rule, the oil level in the power steering should not decrease. If the level has dropped, contact the workshop to eliminate the leak. If the oil level is higher than the nominal, the excess should be removed.
Examination
The power steering oil level should be checked on a cold or slightly warm engine. The maximum permissible oil temperature should not exceed +50°C.
Attention! The above procedure concerns checking the oil level in a cold state. This means that the engine has not been started before the check, the check does not begin immediately after the engine of the arriving vehicle has been turned off, and the engine is turned off during the check. The vehicle wheels must be in a position for driving straight ahead.
At the end of the chapter, instructions are given on how to check the power steering oil level when the engine is hot.
1. Unscrew the cap on the filler neck of the power steering reservoir. Wipe the dipstick on the cap with a clean, lint-free cloth.
2. Screw the cap onto the filler neck of the tank by hand, then unscrew it again and remove it. The oil level on the dipstick should be near the MIN mark (see illustration).
12.2. Screw the cap onto the filler neck of the tank, and then unscrew it again. The oil level on the dipstick should be near the MIN mark
Be sure to fill only with fresh oil, because the slightest contamination can cause the power steering to fail.
3. Screw the cap onto the filler neck of the tank.
Checking the power steering oil level with the engine warmed up to operating temperature 4. Perform a test drive and warm up the engine. The power steering oil temperature should be around +80°C.
5. Check the oil level. It should be 10 mm above the MAX mark on the dipstick.
