Vehicles with 4-cylinder engine
In the event of a system malfunction, the automation switches to an emergency or backup option. This is signaled by the glow of all segments on the indicator board at once.
Spare program
Downshifting and upshifting is carried out as before automatically, only at the same time the shocks when switching become more noticeable.
Emergency program
The gearbox no longer shifts automatically.
If, when switching to emergency mode, the forward gear is engaged, then regardless of the position of the control lever, 3rd gear will automatically turn on. Manual engagement of reverse gear is also possible.
You can get under way from the 3rd gear. When more traction is needed (e.g. in mountains, driving with a trailer) you can start moving when the control lever is in the position "1". After driving off, move the lever again manually to the position "2", "3" or "D". This will only engage 3rd gear. Cruise Control and Electronic Reverse Interlock are disabled during emergency operation.
Vehicles with 5- or 6-cylinder engines
In the event of a system failure, the automation switches to the emergency mode. This is signaled by the glow of all segments on the indicator board at once. If, when switching to emergency mode, the forward gear is engaged, then regardless of the position of the lever, automatic switching to 4th gear will occur. 4th gear remains engaged until the vehicle stops. Due to the direct kinematic connection between the wheels and the engine in 4th gear, it will stall when stopped. The engine is restarted when the control lever is in position "R" or "N".
After that, the control lever can be moved to other positions. However, in any position (D, 3, 2, 1) only 2nd gear will be engaged. Cruise Control and Electronic Reverse Interlock are disabled during emergency operation.
Automatic transmission control lever locks
When the ignition is on, the control lever is locked in the position "R" And "N". To move it out of these positions, press the brake pedal. This prevents inadvertent engagement of the drive gear and spontaneous movement of the vehicle from a standstill.
At speeds of approx. 5 km/h and above, the control lever is automatically released when it is in position "N".
Blocking the ignition key from being removed from the lock
After switching off the ignition, the key can only be removed from the lock when the control lever is in the position "P" (parking lock).
After removing the key from the lock, the lever is locked in position "R".
