Cars with 4-cylinder engine
If the system malfunctions, the automation switches to the emergency or backup option. This is indicated by the lighting of all segments on the indicator board at once.
Backup program
Shifting to lower and higher gears is carried out automatically as before, only the jolts during shifting become more noticeable.
Emergency program
The gearbox no longer shifts automatically.
If forward gear is engaged when switching to emergency mode, 3rd gear will be automatically engaged regardless of the position of the control lever. Manual engagement of reverse gear is also possible.
You can start off from 3rd gear. If you need more traction (for example, in the mountains, when driving with a trailer) you can start moving with the control lever in position "1". After starting off, manually move the lever back to position "2", "3" or "D". In this case, only 3rd gear will be engaged. The cruise control system and the electronic reverse gear lock are disabled when operating in emergency mode.
Cars with 5 or 6 cylinder engines
If the system malfunctions, the automatic system switches to the emergency mode. This is indicated by the illumination of all segments on the indicator panel at once. If the forward gear is engaged when switching to the emergency mode, then regardless of the position of the lever, an automatic switch to 4th gear will occur. 4th gear remains engaged until the car stops. Due to the direct kinematic connection between the wheels and the engine in 4th gear, it will stall when stopped. The engine is restarted when the control lever is in the "P" or "N" position.
After this, the control lever can be moved to other positions. However, in any position (D, 3, 2, 1) only 2nd gear will be engaged. The cruise control system and electronic reverse gear lock are disabled when operating in emergency mode.
Automatic transmission control lever locks
When the ignition is on, the control lever is locked in the "P" and "N" positions. To move it from these positions, press the brake pedal. This prevents the inadvertent engagement of the drive gear and the spontaneous movement of the car from the spot.
At speeds of approximately 5 km/h and above, the control lever lock in the "N" position is automatically released.
Blocking the ignition key from being removed from the lock
After turning off the ignition, the key can only be removed from the lock when the control lever is in the "P" position (parking lock).
After removing the key from the lock, the lever is locked in the "P" position.
