Removal and installation glow plugs (CAMA, CAPA, CAMB, CCWA, CCWB, CGKA, CGKB)
Turn off the ignition. Remove the engine cover. For cylinders 3 and 6, it is necessary to unscrew the corresponding intake manifold flap motor; disconnecting the connecting rod is prohibited. The cable harness must be disconnected by unscrewing the corresponding engine cover mounting bolt. Remove the glow plug caps. Clean the glow plug channel in the cylinder head (no contaminants should enter the cylinder). Cleaning example: Remove heavy dirt with a vacuum cleaner. Spray brake cleaner or other suitable cleaner into the glow plug bore, leave it to act for a short time and blow it out with compressed air. Clean the glow plug channel with a rag soaked in oil. To remove the glow plugs, use a 10" 3220" socket wrench.
Install
To tighten the glow plugs, use a 10 mm universal joint wrench "3220" in combination with a suitable torque wrench. Tighten the glow plugs to the specified torque. Tightening torque: 17 Nm. Attach the glow plug caps to the corresponding glow plugs and check the tightness of the connector connections. Reinstall the removed components.
Removal and installation glow plugs (CCLA)
Turn off the ignition. Remove the engine cover. For cylinders 3 and 6, it is necessary to unscrew the corresponding intake manifold flap motor; disconnecting the connecting rod is prohibited. The cable harness must be disconnected by unscrewing the corresponding engine cover mounting bolt. For cylinders 3 and 5, a combustion chamber pressure sensor is built into the glow plugs. Specification of nuts: glow plugs 2 "Q11" with combustion chamber pressure sensor for cyl. 2 "G678" Nut Specification: 5 "Q14" Glow Plugs with Combustion Chamber Pressure Sensor for Cyl. 5 "G681".
Glow plug options
1. Glow plug with a pressure sensor in the combustion chamber (installed only in glow plugs 2 and 5). 2. Glow plug without a pressure sensor in the combustion chamber.
Remove the glow plug caps. Clean the glow plug channel in the cylinder head (no contaminants should enter the cylinder). Use to disconnect glow plugs "1, 3, 4, 6" 10mm "3220" socket wrench. Use to disconnect glow plugs "2, 5, 4, 6" 12 mm socket for pin glow plugs on the 4-cyl. TDI CR-diesel engine "VAS 6454".
Install
Carefully screw the glow plugs back in by hand or using a suitable hose, without twisting them. To tighten the glow plugs, use a 10mm socket wrench "3220" or a 12mm socket wrench for pin-type glow plugs on the 4-cyl. TDI CR-diesel engine "VAS 6454" in conjunction with a suitable torque wrench. Tightening torque: 17 Nm. Connect the glow plug connectors to the corresponding glow plugs and ensure that the connectors are securely locked. Reinstall the removed components.
