Exhaust manifold

The figure shows the exhaust manifold with an intermediate pipe for cylinder bank 2 (left).

1. Nut: replace; lubricate with heat-resistant paste; 25 Nm.
2. Exhaust manifold.
3/4. Gasket: replace.
5. Bolt: replace; lubricate with heat-resistant paste; 30 Nm + 90°.
6. Intermediate tube.
7. Nut: replace; 30 Nm + 90°.
8. Gasket: replace.
9. Bolt: replace; lubricate with heat-resistant paste.

Removal and installation the left intermediate pipe

Remove the engine cover "arrows". If present, remove the oil dipstick "1". Remove the air duct hose by loosening the hose clamp "3". Disconnect the plug connector "4". Unscrew the bolts "2" and remove the throttle valve module "J338" "pos. 5".

Remove coolant hose "3" from the expansion tank. Unscrew the bolts "arrows" and set the expansion tank with hoses "1" and "2" attached to the side.

Unscrew the bolts accessible from above - arrow on the top left - of the intermediate pipe with the exhaust manifold.

Remove rear noise insulation "2". Remove noise insulation screen "1" in the left wheel arch.

Unscrew the left drive shaft from the shaft with the gearbox flange.

Unscrew the remaining bolts and nuts connecting the intermediate pipe to the exhaust manifold "arrow" and remove the left intermediate pipe.

Install

Installation in reverse order. Replace gaskets, sealing rings and self-locking nuts. Tighten the bolts securing the left drive shaft to the axle shaft and the gearbox flange. Install the noise insulation shields. Install the throttle module "J338".

Removal and installation the right intermediate pipe

Remove the air casing. filter. Remove the turbocharger. Remove the diesel particulate filter. Unscrew bolts "1" and "2", nuts "3" and "4" and remove the right intermediate pipe.
