Headlight leveling control device (Audi A4 B6)

When automatically adjusting the headlight angle with gas discharge lamps, it may be necessary to replace the control unit (on schematic diagrams this device is designated as J431), that is, the device must be removed and then mounted. The control device is located on the instrument panel bracket behind the glove compartment.

Automatic headlight leveling: 1 - servomotor V48/V49, 2 - control unit J431, 3 - ride height sensor: rear light (G76) on the rear left suspension arm, 4 - ride height sensor: front light (G78) on the left support arm of the front wheel suspension.

1. To dismantle the control device, you need to dismantle the glove box (work in the salon).

2. Disconnect the connector (arrow). Unscrew screws 1 and 2 and remove the control device.

3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Tighten the control device with a tightening torque of 3 Nm.
