Removal
1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery.
Note: If your car radio has a secret code, make sure you know the code before disconnecting the battery. If in doubt, consult your dealer.
2. Remove the front and rear sections of the center console as described in paragraph 27.
3. Remove the heater control panel and switch panel as described in paragraph 9 of chapter 3.
4. On models with a passenger airbag, remove it from the faceplate as described in chapter 12.
5. Remove the steering wheel as described in chapter 10.
6. Remove the steering column switches as described in chapter 12.
7. Unscrew the front screws, disconnect the rear fasteners and remove the storage box from under the front panel on the driver's side.
8. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
9. Unscrew the six mounting bolts by removing the plastic plugs (fig. 28.9, a-g).

10. The upper edge of the front panel is secured with two fasteners; carefully remove the faceplate from the engine shield to disconnect them.
11. Carefully unclip the wiring from the back of the instrument cluster once its connectors are accessible. Then remove the front panel from the vehicle (fig. 28.11).

Installation
12. Installation is the reverse procedure. Check that the wiring and heater control cables are correctly installed and connected.
