Troubleshooting
1. The light does not come on when the handbrake is on: check the fuse (chapter Electrical equipment).
2. Remove the incandescent lamp and check it (beginning of chapter).
3. If this does not work, expose the switch behind the parking brake lever by removing the rear section of the center console.
4. Disconnect the wire on the switch (at the back next to the handbrake) and apply the connector to the bare metal.
5. If the light is on, the switch is faulty
6. The light does not go out when the parking brake is released: remove the wire on the handbrake switch as described above, but leave the connector hanging.
7. If the light bulb no longer lights, the switch was faulty/incorrectly installed.
8. But if it continues to burn, then the wire is worn out and shorted to ground.
