Troubleshooting
1. The lamp does not light when the handbrake is applied: check the fuse (chapter Electrical equipment).
2. Dismantle the incandescent lamp and check it (chapter start).
3. If this fails, open the switch behind the parking brake lever by removing the rear of the center console.
4. Disconnect the wire on the switch (behind the handbrake) and attach the connector to bare metal.
5. If the light is on, the switch is faulty
6. The light does not go out when the parking brake is disengaged: remove the wire on the handbrake switch as described above, but leave the connector hanging.
7. If the light is no longer on, then the switch was defective/incorrectly mounted.
8. But if it continues to burn, then the wire is rubbed and closed to ground.
Switch (2) the parking brake indicator light is located exactly behind its lever (1 - shown here with center console removed).
