Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Remove the ignition coil cover.
Disconnect the ignition coil connectors. To do this, on a 5-cylinder engine, unscrew the cover mounting bolt and fold it aside.

If the plug -arrow- on the ignition coil is pressed out, the coil should be replaced.
Check the coil for microcracks, otherwise replace it.
Check the primary resistance of the coil by connecting an ohmmeter to terminals 1 and 15.
Check the secondary resistance of the coil by connecting a voltmeter to terminals 15 and 4.
Connect the electrical wires to the coil.
Put the lid on.
Connect the ground cable to the battery.
Caution: If the ignition coil is replaced, under no circumstances should a coil for the previous breaker-controlled system be installed, as this will damage the control unit.
