Depending on the model, AUDI 80/90 has either a transistor (TSZ) or a fully electronic ignition system with knock control (VEZ). The ignition system of the 118/125 kW engines largely corresponds to the VEZ system, but it is integrated into the electronic engine management system (MPI).
The ignition system consists of an ignition coil, spark plugs, an ignition distributor with a Hall sensor and a runner, and an electronic control device.
The main relay board of the TSZ system is used for heat dissipation. Before installing the relay, carefully clean the main board and contact surfaces and cover them with a special paste to improve heat transfer.
Attention: The operating temperature of the device is removed through the body, so the engine must not be running. if the relay is not installed and not fixed.
