Removal



Drain the coolant.

Remove the regulator.

Loosen the V-belt pulley mounting bolts.

Remove the V-belt.

Loosen the coolant hose clamps.

Remove the hoses. Unscrew the bolts and remove the pump.

Turn the coolant pump shaft and check for ease of movement.

If there is damage or leakage in the pump bearings, replace it completely.

Installation



Install the coolant pump with a new sealing ring and tighten it to 20 Nm.

Caution! If only the cardboard gasket or the bearing housing with the pump drive gear was replaced, secure the bearing housing with a torque of 10 Nm. Do not tighten the bolts too much.


Install the coolant thermostat.

Install the hoses and tighten the clamps.

Secure the V-belt pulley with bolts.

Put on the V-belt.

Note: On a diesel engine, the tension of the V-belt on the water pump is adjusted by installing large or small washers between the halves of the belt pulley.


Fill the system with coolant.

After a test drive, check the pump and hoses for leaks.

Removal, 5-cylinder engines



The coolant pump is located at the front of the engine compartment and is driven by a toothed belt.

Drain the coolant.

Remove the timing belt.

Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the coolant pump.

Installation



Replace the sealing ring, install and secure the pump with bolts using a torque of 20 Nm.

Install the timing belt.

Fill the system with coolant.

After a test drive, check for pump leaks.
