Withdrawal
Drain coolant.
Remove regulator.
Loosen the V-belt pulley bolts.
Remove V-belt.
Unclip the coolant hose clamps.
Remove hoses. Loosen screws and remove pump.
Rotate the coolant pump shaft and check for ease of movement.
If the pump bearings are damaged or leaky, replace them completely.
Installation
Refit the coolant pump with a new O-ring and tighten to 20 Nm.
Attention! If only the cardboard gasket or the bearing housing with pump drive gear has been replaced, secure the bearing housing with 10 Nm. Do not overtighten the bolts.
Install the coolant thermostat.
Install hoses and tighten clamps.
Bolt the V-belt pulley.
Put on the V-belt.
Attention: On a diesel engine, the tension of the V-belt on the water pump is adjusted by installing large or small washers between the halves of the belt pulley.
Fill the system with coolant.
After a test drive, check the pump and hoses for leaks.
Removal, 5-cylinder engines
The coolant pump is located at the front in the engine compartment and is driven by a toothed belt.
Drain coolant.
Remove toothed belt.
Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the coolant pump.
Installation
Replace the O-ring, install and bolt the pump to 20 Nm.
Install toothed belt.
Fill the system with coolant.
After a test drive, check for pump leaks.
