Checking the technical condition of the oil pump (Audi 80 B2)

Remove the oil pump cover and visually inspect its condition; if deep scratches are found, sand down or replace the cover.

Remove gears 2 and 3 (see photo) of the oil pump and determine the degree of their wear.



Check the clearance between the gear teeth with a set of feeler gauges, as well as the clearance between the ends of the gears and the plane of the pump body, which should be within 0-0.13 mm and 0.03-0.06 mm, respectively. If the clearances do not correspond to the data, replace the worn parts.

Check the condition of the pressure reducing valve 4 and the elasticity of the valve spring.
