Note: If the battery has been disconnected, the vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving characteristics for several kilometers after it is reconnected. This is because the engine management system needs to be reconfigured to match the engine parameters. You can ignore the unusual behavior of the car during this period.

1. Adjust the driver's seat as high and as far back as possible.

2. Turn off all electrical consumers, remove the key from the ignition and wait a minute. On 3.0L SCR models, after the ignition is switched off, the AdBlue liquid is automatically diverted from the injector metering line to the active tank (see Chapter 4), and this takes up to 10 minutes. Therefore, after turning off the ignition, you should wait at least 10 minutes before disconnecting the battery.

3. Release the latches on the back of the casing (1 in the illustration) in the direction of the arrows (A), and then remove the cover from the seat bracket in the direction of the arrow (B).

10.3. Removing the trim under the driver's seat.

4. Pry off the plug (1 in the illustration) in the floor covering, slightly lift the floor covering (2) in the area of the ground wire connection, loosen the nut (3) and disconnect the ground wire (4) from the ground point on the body.

10.4. Connecting the negative battery cable.

10.4. Connecting the negative battery cable.

5. Installation is carried out in reverse order. On models with a battery health module, make sure the battery health module connector is properly seated before connecting the negative cable. If the connector is not mated, wait 30 seconds before mating it. Tighten the wire retaining nut to 20 Nm.

6. After connecting the battery, follow these steps:
  • Initialize the electric window lifter (see section 3 of Chapter "Governing bodies");
  • Sync your keys (insert the key into the ignition switch, turn the ignition on, turn the ignition off and remove the key);
  • Use a scan tool to clear the low voltage fault code if it appears.
