It is necessary to check the tightness of the steering control after installation work and in the absence of hydraulic fluid in the expansion tank. Remove the sound insulation. Start the engine. Turn the steering wheel in both directions until it stops and fix it briefly. This creates the maximum possible pressure in the system. To avoid damaging the pump during this check, the steering wheel should not be in the extreme position for more than 10 seconds. In this position, it is necessary to check the following parts for leaks: O-ring of the gear on the valve body of the steering gear; All pipeline connections; All highway connections; Vane pump; Rack sealing ring. This check is only performed with the boots pulled back. Open the spring clamp and boot clamp. Pull the bellows back. If oil is visible in the steering gear housing and/or boots, the steering gear must be replaced.
